 "The Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris has dedicated
an entire floor to the art of textiles with more than a hundred rugs,
tapestries, and freestanding sculptures by modern and contemporary artists.
The scenography of the stylishly titled exhibition Decorum
was designed by artist Marc Camille Chaimowicz, who,
in a Surrealist touch, placed unexpected domestic objects
on and around the carpets.
Anne Dressen, the exhibition’s curator,
grouped the works into the provocatively themed categories:
The Painterly, The Sculptural, The Decorative, Orientalisms, and Primitivisms.
Spanning the modern rediscovery of textile art,  
Decorum highlights influential 20th-century makers including
Le Corbusier, Pablo Picasso, Sophie Taeuber-Arp, Louise Bourgeois,
and Italian Memphis group designer Nathalie du Pasquier.
Arts and Crafts–era textiles are presented by the likes of William Morris,
the Vienna Secession group, and the Omega Workshops in England,
along with tapestries by Bauhaus weavers Anni Albers,
Gunta Stölzl, and Johannes Itten."

WHAT HAVE I BEEN DOING

I bought myself this pink cardigan. Instant crush.
We visited the house Van Buuren in Brussels,
those carpets, the curtains, the paintings,
the architecture, the garden, again instant crush...
And I started a new warp, my boyfriend said spring is in the house...
:-)

LAST SCARF OF 2013

This very blue scarf was finished in 2013.
I only made 5 scarves last year,
because of some other big assignments.
But I look back on a good textile year,
with a prize, a new loom, a memorable textile trip to Finland,
two exhibitions, ...
Up till now 2014 looks calm.

But!
I would like to wish all of you a happy and healthy new year,
with nice plans and suprises, love and friendship.

PICTURES OF PEOPLE AND THEIR SCARF

These are the pictures taken for the exhibition in Vichte.
The photographer was Nele van Canneyt, 
her 'assignment' was portraying 5 people and their own scarf.
I wasn't present at the photoshoots but I like 
how she has captured everyone in their own personal way
and how she shows the textiles in a totally different style than mine.
Because of budget reasons I never worked with a photographer before,
maybe something to think about in the future...

"Amy Revier weaves to make one of a kind garments entirely by hand.
The cloth for every garment is handwoven in her London weaving cottage on a traditional floor loom. Yarn of exceptional quality is handspun in Japan,
where it is made in small quantities and naturally dyed.
Once the cloth is woven, garments are cut and hand stitched by a single tailor.
No two garments are alike. Textiles and garments are made specially with the intended store in mind. Collections are on a non-seasonal, ongoing basis,
and delivered in small quantites throughout the year.

JUST TODAY

Today was good for the start of a new scarf, a blue one again.

Still busy with designing the warp, that always takes some time,

but in my way of working, it's a really important part.

It took me a while to get back to my everlasting scarfproject,

but when the need isn't there, 

I just need to respect a pause.

But today I got that itchy feeling... :-)

On my new loom there's a new project, not a scarf,
and something for me this time.
Still busy with weaving samples, so more about it later.
I'm just getting to know my Arm Patronic loom,
so it's not a complex type of fabric.
Weaving with a dobby loom is completely new to me,
but it's really my cup of tea...
It still feels strange I need electricity for weaving! :-)

Longing for the christmas vacation.
Quite some weaving plans...
