This was a very special request. A man is turning 80 and his family wanted to give him a handwoven scarf. They came over for a visit (with the man of 79). He told me he didn't like dark colours and he also preferred more calm motifs, instead of me changing colour and design all the time.
He tried on this scarf: http://ilseacke.blogspot.be/2015/05/national-scarf-two.html
and the colours were just perfect.
I tried to translate it in wool and this is the result.
It's a very big man so it's a very big scarf.
This weekend it will be handed over,
I hope he likes it...
I am participating the "Week van de Smaak / Tafel 24" with my recyclable placemats.
This is the third time I am weaving them and still with much pleasure, I like the graphic suprises of the newspaper strips and ofcourse the pleasure of weaving with beautiful linen.
It's linen, it's woven and I'm putting it in a frame.
Very curious about the result.
It's not a scarf, but what is it then? :-)
+ Check this article, about Snow Fabric in Japan: “It is in the snow that the thread is spun, and in the snow that the
weave is woven. It is the snow that washes and bleaches the fabric. Everything begins and ends in the snow. Chijimi fabric only exists
because of snow: we may say that snow is the mother of Chijimi.” + the video...
Jeffrey and me had an interesting time at the fair.
Good talks and business with new contacts from all over the world and good talks with new colleagues.
We'll be back in february, so hope to see you there again! :-)
