Cosy nightweaving!

The installation of 9 meters,
it looked quite impressive...

I have to update my blog more often,
but since a few months I am working fulltime at my regular job,
and some things got neglected...
I have to find my way in organizing 'working at work'
and 'working at home',
but I'm getting there slowly:-)

9 METERS

Remember these?
For this event, "GO GREEN",
I made 9 metres of linen and newspaper.
My loom is going to Leuven,
were I will unroll the whole piece.
After the event, I'm cutting it into placemats.

My previous text about the placemats:
"They are made of linen that was unsuitable for weaving in the industry,
newspaper and cotton tape.
They contain only cellulose,
so after usage,
you just throw them on your compostheap
and after a while they will dissapear.

I wanted to make something to throw away,
simple and pure,
a product that does not affect nature."

After this first production,
I noticed that people were having problems with the fact
that you can use them only once.
Because they know I made them on my loom
and that it takes quite some time to weave them.
They ask me if the placemats cannot be made waterproof,
but that is not the point of this work.
You have to throw it away
and maybe think about all the other stuff,
like cheap clothes and electronics, that we use
and throw away without thinking.
In every object there is a presence of materials and labour.
And not everything dissapears like the placemats after disposal.
Just think about that...

It's Buren bij Kunstenaars,
so there's lots of people you can visit at their workplace.

My boyfriend, who refurbishes furniture,
will also be present in his garage.

BROWN AND ORANGE

Brown is a colour I haven't used much...
So this scarf is for changing that habit.

p.s.
One very important remark:
my scarves are soft.
I select my wool very carefully,
because I hate prickly scarves myself.
Every piece is washed before sale,
that makes them even softer.

"she is a painter by trade,

but her recent work has manifested itself

She spends hours calmly, painstakingly crocheting

The work is impressively meticulous and pleasingly colorful;

Jo interprets shadows through tone and color.

She also organizes her gigantic collection of yarn

according to their tonal ranges:

warm and cool versions of each color

residing in their right and individual places.
